Submitting flight requests

A simple guide to views, actions, and the overall flow of the application.

DroneClearance is a simple online tool that shows where drone flights are planned and allows operators to submit flight requests in areas where approval is required. The map and submission form are open to everyone.

What You See

Interactive Map The main screen is an easy‑to‑use map showing three layers:

Flight Requests submitted via DroneClearance (green = approved, yellow = pending) Airspace Zones such as controlled or restricted airspace (click for details) Registered Flight Plans from external platforms (purple)

You can zoom, move the map, and click shapes to see more information.

Submitting a Flight Request

Anyone can submit a request:

Enter basic details like operator, pilot, timing, altitude, and flight purpose. Draw your planned flight area on the map. Submit the request in one click.

If you choose to log in (optional), the form becomes faster to complete with:

Prefilled operator info Dropdowns for pilots, radio operators, and drones

A Flight request needs to be approved by all zone managers before you are allowed to fly!

What Happens After You Submit

DroneClearance automatically checks which zones you plan to fly in and sends your request to the right zone manager.

You may instantly receive:

  • Approved or Automatically Approved
  • Rejected or Automatically Rejected in restricted zones
  • Registered if no approval is required
  • In all other cases flight requests are set to pending

If your flight touches multiple managed areas, each zone manager reviews it. If any team rejects, the system ensures all parts of your request receive the same outcome.

Tracking Your Request

After submitting, you can track your request using a link (guests) or through your dashboard (logged‑in operators). You will see:

  • Current status
  • Assigned zone managers
  • Flight details
